- つくばい【蹲・蹲踞】〔動詞「つくばう」の連用形から〕茶庭などに据える手水(チヨウズ)鉢。 つくばって使うように鉢を低く構え， 左右に湯桶(ユオケ)・灯火を置く湯桶石・手燭(テシヨク)石を配し， 使い手の乗る前石を据えるのが定式。 茶室では心身の塵を払うものとして重視する。 据え方により立ち使いの形式もある。
